Church Mobilization

Jesus gave the Great Commission to the church: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

However, as Pat Hood says in his book The Sending Church, “somewhere along the line, many churches basically abdicated their responsibility to do missions to a mission sending agency. The churches responsibility was reduced to ‘pay, pray, and stay out of the way.'” (p. 109)

The association’s Church Mobilization Team seeks to reverse this mindset and trend by providing opportunities and training so that our member churches can partner together in missions endeavors both locally and globally.

Some of the specific ways that the Pike Association assists our local churches to be mobilized for missions includes:

  • LoveLoud Pike, an annual week-long local mission project consisting of construction, community service, and outreach/evangelism.
  • Planning local evangelistic events such as Backpack Giveaways, Thanksgiving meal distribution, basketball clinics, as well as partnering with other organizations for Hope For The Mountains.
  • Developing strategic partnerships with North American Mission Board church planters.
  • Intentionally praying for missionaries serving in Kentucky, North America, and to the ends of the earth.
